In recognition of Memorial Day, we pause to honor the American soldiers who gave their lives in service to our nation. The film’s portrayal of the Normandy invasion and the mission to bring one soldier home reflects a deeper truth of every life lost in war represents a story, a family, and a legacy of bravery. Today, we remember those heroes with gratitude, acknowledging the freedoms we enjoy because of their unwavering commitment. Their sacrifice endures, and so does our responsibility to honor it.

Pairing the movie with Carlsbad’s own subterranean wonders highlights how natural marvels can spark cinematic imagination. In collaboration with Cave Week we wanted to include something with connection to Carlsbad.

On Flag Day we recognize the adoption of the United States flag, a symbol of national unity, resilience, & freedom. The holiday reflects on sacrifices made & securing liberties the flag represents. Flag Day started June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Resolution stated That the flag of the 13 United States be 13 stripes, alternate red & white; that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation. In honor of this day, we present The Patriot, a Revolutionary War drama that captures the struggle for independence through courage, sacrifice, & the cost of liberty. The film highlights the spirit of the era & the determination that shaped the nation’s founding.
