Atlantis: The Lost Empire follows an expedition into a hidden world filled with ancient technology and glowing crystal landscapes. Its striking underground visuals echo the real-life beauty of Carlsbad Caverns, whose vast chambers and dramatic formations helped inspire the film’s look. Pairing the movie with Carlsbad’s own subterranean wonders highlights how natural marvels can spark cinematic imagination. In collaboration with Cave Week we wanted to include something with connection to Carlsbad.
Movie showings will be at 2pm and 6 pm. Show up an hour early for information about caves and our area provided by National Cave & Karst Research Institute.

On Flag Day we recognize the adoption of the United States flag, a symbol of national unity, resilience, & freedom. The holiday reflects on sacrifices made & securing liberties the flag represents. Flag Day started June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Resolution stated That the flag of the 13 United States be 13 stripes, alternate red & white; that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation. In honor of this day, we present The Patriot, a Revolutionary War drama that captures the struggle for independence through courage, sacrifice, & the cost of liberty. The film highlights the spirit of the era & the determination that shaped the nation’s founding.

When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to Harry Stamper, who agrees to the dangerous space mission to destroy the asteroid.
In this showing of Armageddon, we honor the spirit of the people whose grit keeps America running. The film’s heroes are roughneck drillers whose skill, determination, & fearlessness make them unlikely saviors of the world. That same spirit is woven into the history of Carlsbad, New Mexico, where the early oil fields helped shape the community & fueled decades of growth across the region. From the 1st well drilled in June of 1924 to the generations of families who built their lives around the industry & the development of the Permian Basin, Carlsbad’s story is one of resilience, innovation, & hard work. Pairing Armageddon with our local heritage highlights the real-world toughness & expertise the film celebrates.
